The Reds welcome the Serie A champions to Merseyside for the second-leg of their last 16 meeting. Jurgen Klopp’s side edged the first-leg 2-0 with late goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah at the San Siro after weathering the Nerazzurri’s long periods on top.
Inter hit the bar and came close to beating Alisson in last month’s encounter, but failed to find the breakthrough. Firmino then punished Simone Inzaghi’s men after his introduction, before Salah doubled the margin with Liverpool’s only shots on target away to Inter Milan.

Bastoni started the first-leg, but Inzaghi cut his night short in second-half stoppage-time for Federico Dimarco. He seemed shaky at first matching up against Mohamed Salah, yet grew into the UEFA tie as the game progressed before Firmino beat the centre-back in the air.

Bastoni now hopes to feature at Anfield when Inter Milan visit Liverpool for the second-leg of their Champions League tie. The 22-year-old has also shared how Inzaghi’s men will have to tackle the tie if they are to keep Salah, Firmino and co quiet for a Merseyside comeback.
“We played a great game putting Liverpool in difficulty, we all know what history they have,” Bastoni said. “I have already faced many top players. Their attack is very strong. It will be necessary, a careful game to try to limit them as much as possible.

“Beyond the work of the individuals, we have prepared the game to limit their attack with a team effort. I am thrilled to play in such an important stadium, I can’t wait.”
Liverpool have never lost to Inter Milan at Anfield ahead of Bastoni and co visiting the Reds on Tuesday. The Merseyside outfit have won both of their two previous meetings on home soil, taking a 3-1 European Cup win back in 1965 and a 2-0 Champions League win in 2008.
