Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick has admitted that Newcastle United target Philippe Coutinho may not be at his club next term in the Daily Mail.
Bayern have signed Coutinho on loan from Barcelona, but the Brazilian hasn’t fully convinced in Bavaria.
Indeed, it has been suggested that Newcastle could make a £70 million move for the playmaker in the summer by Metropoles, if their takeover goes through.
And Flick’s comments suggest that Bayern may not rival Newcastle in the race to sign Coutinho on a permanent deal, with no decisions made over his future.
“I can’t say what will happen with him after the season,” the German boss said.
“Philippe is a good guy and an excellent footballer. I really enjoy working with him.
“We hope he can be back with us again soon and play some games before the end of the season.”
If Newcastle were given a free run to sign Coutinho then he could be a very exciting addition for the Magpies.
Coutinho was one of the Premier League’s most dangerous players during his last spell in England with Liverpool.
The 27-year-old hasn’t been as effective since leaving Anfield, but he remains a supreme talent.
And Coutinho’s arrival at Newcastle would really highlight the North East side’s new found ambition under their potential new owners.
