Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Marcelo Bielsa has spoken about Pablo Hernandez’s involvement at Leeds this season, claiming that he hasn’t played as much football as he’d have wanted or deserved.
The Spaniard has won Leeds’ Player of the Season award in each of the last three years, but this season he’s been almost completely forgotten about.
Indeed, Hernandez has played just 349 minutes in the Premier League this term, starting just two games, and Bielsa says that he is entirely responsible for his lack of involvement.
“This last year of Premier League, I can’t ignore that Pablo didn’t have the minutes that he would have wanted or that he would have deserved because I think he would have deserved them and I can’t ignore that I am responsible that he didn’t have more protagonism than he did and I want to take on the responsibility because it is true,” Bielsa said.

The Argentine is right about Hernandez not playing the minutes he deserves, but who are we to question Bielsa?
The Argentine has led Leeds to a top-half finish, and if he felt that Hernandez wasn’t the right man for the job, he was probably right.
However, we have to acknowledge that is it sad that Hernandez’s excellent Leeds career hasn’t had the fairytale ending it probably deserved, but there’s every chance that we see a bit of magic from the Spaniard one last time on Sunday.
