Everton fans have taken to Twitter to discuss a photo of Jordan Pickford’s positioning right before Callum Wilson netted Newcastle’s second goal.
The strike – which occurred in the 94th minute at Goodison Park – sealed the victory for the Magpies.
However, while the defending was non-existent, some supporters have highlighted how much space the England international gave Wilson.
The aforementioned photo makes for pretty damning viewing.
In Pickford’s defence, his backline was nowhere to be seen, so he didn’t really have much choice but to dart out at Wilson’s feet.
However, the image in question shows a huge amount of space to the ex-Sunderland man’s left, which is exactly where the Newcastle striker placed the ball.
The picture doesn’t reflect especially well on Pickford.
However, as aforesaid, the goal was far, far from being his fault.
One impressive aspect of the 26-year-old’s display was his passing, judging by the statistics.
SofaScore shows that Everton’s No.1 completed ten of his attempted 14 long-range passes, which is pretty tidy work from the £30 million man.
Pickford finished the game with a pass success rate of 83%, which is one positive from his display against Steve Bruce’s men.
