Robbie Savage says he ‘can’t believe’ Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United aren’t ‘throwing everything’ at Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane this summer.
With 12 months left on his contract, there is a lot of noise around the 29-year-old’s future at Tottenham, including claims that he has told Bayern Munich he wants to join them this summer.
Regardless of where Harry Kane is at, Savage hinted that he should be Manchester United-bound because of their need to bring in a number nine for next season, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
The issue Man United and Bayern face isn’t Kane himself, but trying to get Daniel Levy to accept a reasonable offer for his star man.
When Declan Rice is leaving West Ham United for over £100 million, and he also has one year left on his contract, then you have to question how much Kane is worth in that very same all-over-the-place and inflated transfer market.
Either way, Savage expressed his surprise at Kane’s transfer situation
“I can’t believe Manchester United, I don’t know if they have, but if I was them, then I would be throwing everything at Harry Kane,” said Savage.
“Man United are desperate for a centre-forward.”
Postecoglou in the building
Unlike the previous managers, you can bet your bottom dollar that whatever happens with Kane this summer, Ange Postecoglou won’t be moaning about the situation he finds himself in September, especially if his star striker leaves.
The issue with someone like Antonio Conte is that he sent out vibes like Spurs should be grateful to have him and whenever there were stumbling blocks, he pointed fingers rather than trying to bring everyone together.
Postecoglou is a better man-manager, in that regard, so while it will help the former Celtic man if Kane stays, the club is still in safe hands going forward because Levy has made a pretty good appointment here.
