Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United continues to be something of a transfer saga and a one-time Liverpool player appears to be frustrated that his old outfit aren’t in the running to sign the Netherlands international.
De Jong is heavily linked with a transfer from Barcelona to Manchester United, due to the Camp Nou club’s financial problems.
The former Ajax midfielder has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past but it was reported earlier this summer that the Red Devils were willing to pay him £395,000 per week to come to Old Trafford.
The Reds are a far superior team to those at the Theatre of Dreams, but United continue to be a gargantuan football club capable of pulling off mega-money deals, with The Telegraph reporting a £63 million fee had been agreed.
And Jose Enrique, a former left-back at Liverpool, appears annoyed on Instagram that Jurgen Klopp and FSG cannot compete with England’s elite off the pitch sometimes.
Enrique pointed to Bernardo Silva’s potential move to Barcelona as a catalyst for De Jong to leave Spain.

The Spaniard might have a point.
After all, Klopp is being quizzed about signing a midfielder on a bi-weekly basis at the moment and that’s because, well, Liverpool do need somebody of De Jong’s ilk.
With Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones all sidelined, the Reds are struggling for numbers in this department.
However, Liverpool have already broken their transfer record on Darwin Nunez at £85 million this summer and honestly, another huge-money investment was never really on the cards, despite speculation about De Jong earlier in the window.
