Well, Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-min hasn’t made the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
Somehow.
Despite sharing the Golden Boot award with Mohamed Salah this past season after both scored 23 Premier League goals, the Tottenham forward hasn’t even made the first XI of the division’s best players from the 2021-22 campaign.
The Liverpool player is included, as is his teammate Sadio Mane and Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
That was the front-three and with no room for the Spurs star – whose 23 goals comprised of zero penalties – Curtis Davies has admitted he’s stunned by the omission.
He told talkSPORT: “My biggest disappointment is Son. To not see him in the six nominees just blew my mind. Not seeing him there was maybe a lean towards what was going to happen with the team. I can’t believe he’s not in there. He’s pulled up trees for that Tottenham side, who scraped fourth at the end of the season.”
Honestly, it is sort of ridiculous that the South Korea international hasn’t been included.
However, Son might not care too much.
This is a player who prioritises side over self and Tottenham qualifying for the Champions League, pipping Arsenal, will be enough satisfaction for him.
Lest we forget he also shared the Golden Boot award, something he considered a dream.
So missing out on the Team of the Year will probably be water off a duck’s back.
