Fabinho is a touch lucky to avoid a yellow card in Tottenham Hotspur’s visit to Liverpool this evening.
Well, that’s the view of pundit Graeme Le Saux.
It’s the halfway point of this massive Premier League contest at Anfield.
Victory for Liverpool would see them move top of the Premier League standings, whereas three points for Tottenham would result in them leapfrogging Arsenal into fourth position.
There’s a lot at stake for both outfits and that’s reflective in the relatively cagey nature throughout the opening 45 minutes.
There was a flashpoint midway through the half when Fabinho fouled Tottenham hitman Harry Kane, bringing him down to prevent the player from advancing forward.
And Le Saux is stunned that the Brazilian midfielder avoided a booking.
He told NBC Sport: “I can’t believe that’s not a yellow card to be honest. It’s way beyond him and [he was] breaking into dangerous territory.”
Virgil van Dijk very nearly opened the scoring for Liverpool but his header from a corner cannoned off the crossbar with seven minutes left in the half.
Minutes later, it was Spurs’ turn to strike the woodwork as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg struck the post from outside the box following a swift counter-attack.
It was a brilliant end to an otherwise dull half and it’ll be fascinating to see what happens after the break.
