Don Hutchison has said on Twitter that Leeds United defender Liam Cooper was rightly sent off against Manchester City.

Leeds have got the better of City 2-1 away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League this afternoon.

The Whites scored a late goal to pick up all three points from the encounter and played the entire second half with just 10 men.

Cooper was dismissed in the first-half injury time for a tackle on Gabriel Jesus. VAR was involved, and not many agreed with the decision.

Former Leeds star Ian Harte and ex-City player Stephen Elliott were among those who felt that Cooper was unjustly sent off, but former Sheffield United and Liverpool midfielder Hutchison believes that it was the right decision and cannot believe that some are saying that it was a yellow card.

It was a controversial decision and one that will be debated for quite some time, but Leeds will be pleased that it did not affect the result in the end.

The Whites defended superbly, did not wilt under pressure from City, and head coach Marcelo Bielsa should be proud of his players.
