What a truly miserable afternoon for Newcastle United today.
Eddie Howe’s side had a tricky visit to Leicester City on their hands and that’s exactly what it proved to be for Newcastle.
They slumped to a demoralising 4-0 defeat as the Foxes ran ragged at the King Power Stadium.
United’s win over Burnley last weekend restored some feel-good factor about the relegation-threatened Magpies.
But this performance was another example of how much work is needed at Newcastle before they can even think about staying in the Premier League.
There was a string of sub-par displays from the visiting players this afternoon.
However, some Newcastle supporters on Twitter have been singing the praises of big Brazilian Joelinton.
Howe has transformed the towering striker – who’s been playing a deeper role since the 43-year-old replaced Steve Bruce – and some fans were impressed by him again today.
The good news for Newcastle is that they’re still not bottom of the standings, even though they probably ought to be.
Norwich City remain rooted to the foot of the table, but only on goal difference after scoring on nine less occasions.
Howe’s outfit are only three points adrift of safety which, honestly, is another piece of positive news, it has to be really said.
