Harry Winks has reportedly decided to stay at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from Tottenham for quite a lot of this calendar year.
During the summer, Newcastle United and Everton were reportedly keen on signing him, particularly toward the end of the window.
And there was also speculation about him leaving in January.
But The Standard have reported that after enjoying a revival under Antonio Conte, the Spurs midfielder is no longer thinking about leaving North London next month.
Here’s how Tottenham supporters have reacted on Twitter:
Improvement
The positive reaction from Lilywhites fans ought to indicate that the player has improved massively since the Italian manager arrived.
In the same report it was claimed that Winks was ‘miserable’ under Conte’s predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo, who left him out of the squad on a number of occasions.
But the England international is playing like he did during Mauricio Pochettino’s reign at Hotspur Way.
And from a Spurs perspective, long may it last.
Winks is even keeping Tanguy Ndombele out of the first XI, but the France international doesn’t seem that bothered to play football at the moment.
A big test for the Englishman is when Conte has a full-strength midfield, including Giovanni lo Celso, Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
If Winks continues to start when those Tottenham trio are available – which they aren’t at the moment – then that’ll complete his comeback in North London.
