Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has shared an update on Nuno Espirito Santo and Everton.
Nuno was seen as a front-runner for the Everton job at one point, but amid reports Rafa Benitez is now the favourite to take over, things have gone quiet on that front.
Castles says that Nuno himself now believes that his chance of taking over at Goodison Park has gone after all contact with the Toffees was cut a couple of days ago.
What’s been said?
Castles says that Nuno hasn’t heard from Everton for over two days now.
“You also have Nuno Espirito Santo wondering if he’s going to get the Everton job just as Rafa Benitez is briefing that he expects to get the job,” Castles said.
“I can tell you that there’s been, over the past two days, no contact between Everton and Nuno, so his expectation is that his chance there has gone.”

Missed opportunity
Everton may be making a mistake in letting the chance to hire Nuno pass them by.
The former Wolves boss is a wonderful tactician who would have done a wonderful job at Goodison Park, but it seems as though it won’t happen now.
Benitez is briefing that he expects to get the job, and that’s bound to be a move that won’t go down well with fans.
Nuno’s search for a new job is ongoing, and perhaps he may want to give Daniel Levy a call after Spurs missed out on another two manager targets this week.
