Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told The London Evening Standard that Cristian Romero would play for Spurs with one leg if he could.
Conte made the comments about Romero while discussing the commitment of the Tottenham and Argentina international central defender.
The 24-year-old will not play for Tottenham in their final three matches before the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.
The centre-back has not played in three of Tottenham’s last four matches due to muscle fatigue.
However, Romero could return to fitness in time for Argentina’s World Cup campaign.
There have been criticisms from some Tottenham fans, but Conte has strongly defended Romero.

Antonio Conte on Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero
Conte said: “About Romero I can tell you that for him, if I ask the possibility to play with one leg, he wants to play with one leg.
“For this reason I tell the fans we have players really committed for the club and maybe Romero, he had an injury because he wanted to risk and we wanted to take the risk.
“Then he had this injury but for sure many teams are having big injuries and this is because we are playing every three days.”
Big player for Spurs
In our opinion, Cristian Romero is one of the best and most important players at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 24-year-old is one of the first names on the Tottenham teamsheet when he is fit and available.
There is no doubt that Romero is a very good defender who is passionate about Tottenham and Argentina.
It is unfortunate for Spurs that he is injured now, but we can be certain that when he is eventually back in Conte’s team, he will give his all.
Like he always does.
