Leeds United defender Robin Koch has raved over the recent arrival of Tyler Adams, with the centre-back pleased that the Whites have managed to sign the American international this summer.

In an interview with Bild, the German revealed that he is happy with the club’s decision to sign Adams, with the midfielder one of the club’s six new additions this summer as Jesse Marsch looks to completely overhaul the Leeds squad.

Adams was brought in as a replacement for Kalvin Phillips, who emotionally signed for Manchester City in a club-record sale for Leeds, yet despite the midfielder’s incredible importance to the Elland Road side, fans and players are excited by the arrival of the 23-year-old USA star.

The versatile midfielder has been a star for Leipzig over the years, however, the appointment of Domenico Tedesco saw Adams play limited football, opening a move for Marsch to sign his former New York Red Bulls favourite on a good deal.

Indeed, Leeds have made some strong signings on paper this summer, and for Koch, a £12m arrival in Marcelo Bielsa’s first year as a Premier League manager, Adams has the potential to become a key player for the Whites next season.

Koch said on the signing of Adams: “The club did a great job. Tyler in particular has often shown what he can do in the Bundesliga at RB Leipzig. He’s a top player and from what I can tell from the first few days, he’s also a top guy. He and other newcomers will strengthen our team enormously.”

Leeds made the right move to sign Adams to replace Phillips

Replacing a player like Phillips feels like an impossible job for Leeds, yet whilst Adams might be a different kind of player, there’s no denying that the American could be a great successor to the England international at Elland Road under Marsch.

After all, the pair worked wonders together in New Jersey with the Red Bulls, and in Leeds, with the duo now more mature and experienced, they could create magic at Leeds ahead of a season that has many supporters worried given who has left this summer.
