Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Borna Sosa has an agreement to leave Stuttgart in the summer, speaking to Sportske Novosti, confirms that he’s intrigued by a Premier League switch.
No wonder Stuttgart are struggling at the wrong end of the table.
Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, star striker Sasa Kalajdzic, winger Silas, veteran playmaker Gonzalo Castro and Argentine international Nicolas Gonzalez. All star players from Stuttgart’s impressive 2020/21 campaign. All of whom have been unavailable – either due to a summer sale or niggling injury problem – throughout the current campaign.
Kobel joined Dortmund while Gonzalez was sold to Fiorentina. And the smart money is on Sosa following in their footsteps, particularly if Stuttgart suffer relegation to the second tier for the third time in seven years.
“I can confirm that I have a lot of interest. That is a fact,” explains the Croatia international.
“A lot of people are calling me. The summer transfer window is approaching. We know that negotiations start early, usually in April. And that’s in less than a month.
“I can say that the time has come for me to take a new step in my career.”
Antonio Conte’s new left-back?
According to BILD reporter Christian Falk, Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have shown an interest. Sosa, who has been compared to David Beckham due to his pinpoint crossing, looks tailor-made for Antonio Conte’s wing-back system.
The 24-year-old admits that he was ‘very, very close’ to leaving Stuttgart in January, amid reported interest from Aston Villa. Steven Gerrard and co instead opted for a proven Premier League operator, taking advantage of a dramatic fall-out between Lucas Digne and Rafa Benitez at Everton.

“(The Premier League) I would say is by far the strongest league,” Sosa adds. “And it is clear that the goal of every footballer is to play in the strongest leagues in the world.
“Definitely, I have a great desire to play in the Premiership. I can also tell you that I was very, very close to leaving last winter.
“However, the club decided not to let me go. But I got a promise. And it reads; ‘if I get a satisfactory offer in the summer, I can leave’.
“We agreed to find the best solution together. But I say, I’m still in Stuttgart, we’ll see what opens in the summer.”
