Jose Mourinho has told Football London that Davinson Sanchez will be starting for Tottenham Hotspur against LASK tomorrow.

Sanchez scored an own goal for Spurs against West Ham United last weekend, and the Colombian’s performance was hardly convincing.

But Mourinho is willing to offer Sanchez a chance to prove himself again on Thursday night.

“The only player I can confirm is starting is Davinson Sanchez, who will be at the press conference. The only thing I ask is that you don’t ask him about his amazing goal on Sunday,” Mourinho said.

Mourinho’s decision may be more out of necessity than choice.

Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga are still struggling with injury at Spurs, while Joe Rodon is ineligible as he wasn’t signed in time to registered in the North London side’s squad.

It means that Mourinho’s centre-back choices are extremely limited, with Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld his only natural senior options in the position.

Tottenham have been taking the Europa League very seriously this term, and are expected to announce a strong line-up tomorrow.
