Some Tottenham Hotspur fans want to see Bryan Gil start this afternoon’s North London derby with Arsenal.
Spurs signed the Spain international for £21 million in a part-exchange deal which saw Erik Lamela move to Sevilla this past summer.
But the 20-year-old winger has only really featured in the fringe competitions like the EFL Cup or the Europa Conference League so far.
In the Premier League, Nuno Espirito Santo has given Gil just half-an-hour since arriving in North London.
But with Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura rusty after recovering from injuries, some Tottenham fans want to see the tricky Spaniard line up against the Gunners for a full league debut.
Here’s what they’re saying on Twitter:
Will Nuno use him?
Probably not, no.
The reason why Gil has managed just 30 minutes of Premier League football is because the Portuguese coach clearly doesn’t think he’s ready for more just yet.
That being said, there is an argument to be made that the only way to get ready for a North London derby is by playing in one.
Bergwijn and Lucas were brilliant for Tottenham in the early weeks of the new season, but their respective injuries mean that they can’t possibly be as sharp as a fully-fit Gil.
Sticking him in the first XI makes sense, but a lot of things make sense at Spurs – like using Harry Kane as a number nine – and Nuno hasn’t been doing that as of late either.
