Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has admitted to Leeds Live that he doesn’t think he can improve Raphinha much.

Raphinha has made such a startling impression at Elland Road since arriving in the summer that he is already considered one of their most important players.

The Brazilian was in scintillating form yesterday, as the Whites picked up a 3-0 win over Southampton.

And Bielsa was full of praise for Raphinha after the game.

“He’s a player who unbalances by himself. He’s very ambitious, very competitive,” Bielsa said.

“It’s a mix not very common because he works a lot and on top of that he is creative and can unbalance. I sincerely think I can add very little to his game. The best thing you can do with players spontaneous like this is let them to be themselves.”

Bielsa’s claim that he won’t be able to improve Raphinha is another example of just how humble he is.

The truth is that Bielsa has already improved the 24-year-old, in his first season at the club.

Raphinha is noticeably working harder in games now, and he actually performs well defensively for Leeds, as well as being a major attacking threat.

The 24-year-old scored Leeds’ last goal in their 3-0 win last night, as he curled in a long-range free-kick to ensure his side picked up the three points.
