Jamie Carragher has praised Arsenal target, Jonathan David, and claimed that he is ‘really good’ at dragging opposition defenders out of position, as he told CBS Sports.

The TV pundit added that Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, with who he had many battles during his Liverpool career, used to also do that.

David won the Ligue 1 title with Lille last season and the 22-year-old’s stock went through the roof.

And even though things aren’t going well for the French champions in Ligue 1 this season, David is still going strong – he has scored 12 league goals this term.

From a defenders perspective, Carragher shared what the Canada international does so well.

“What he’s really good at is actually bringing defenders out of position,” said Carragher.

“When you come up against players like that, I came up against Thierry (Henry), you think he’s not leaving space for people to run into.

“But that’s the type of mistakes you see from defenders. There’s actually space for them to run into. That’s his big strength.”

David has recently told French outlet Telefoot that he wants to play Premier League football, which is a boost for those interested parties, including Arsenal.

The £46 million star has scored 12 goals in France’s top-tier this season and has managed three during his side’s Champions League campaign.

Whilst David isn’t French, Arsenal have had many players in the past, who have come from France, and thrived on their stage.

Come the summer, Mikel Arteta will be searching for that striker in north London and someone of David’s goalscoring ability certainly ticks their boxes.
