William Saliba has been impressed with Arsenal’s form this season as well as his start to life in the Premier League after two years out on loan from the north London giants.
Speaking to Canal Plus via GFFN, the France international admitted that he wanted to leave his mark at Arsenal this campaign after a breakout year last season with Olympique Marseille, where Saliba established himself as one of Ligue 1’s best defenders and one of the most exciting young players in all of Europe.
And Saliba’s year in Marseille caught the eye of Mikel Arteta, who has started the 21-year-old in every Premier League game so far this season with the youngster already a firm fan favourite with Arsenal supporters, who have been taken aback by how good the centre-back now is.
Signed for a reported £27m back in 2019, the loan spells out in France with Saint-Etienne, OGC Nice and Marseille have worked wonders on Saliba’s development, with the defender arguably one of the best talents in the Premier League this season and a player who could become one of the best in his position in the years to come.

Indeed, Saliba recently won Arsenal’s Goal of the Month competition for August, and whilst the Gunners’ most recent Premier League result ended in a loss to rivals Manchester United, the defender has been impressed with the club’s form this season as well as his own personal performances.
Saliba said when asked about Arsenal’s season so far: “I came back to impose myself and it’s nice to start well, as I have. We have had a very good start to the season until the match against Manchester United. Still, we’re first and we want to continue like that.”
Arsenal have to award William Saliba a new contract ASAP

Saliba’s form this season has been a revelation for Arsenal, with the 21-year-old already becoming a hero at the Emirates Stadium and a player many fans expect to star in the defence for years to come, and the Gunners should be working on handing the towering centre-back a new contract.
After all, Saliba is perhaps the best young centre-back in Europe right now, and for Arsenal, they can’t afford to lose such a talent due to his contract situation like they have done so many times in the past, with the Frenchman simply too good to be out of the door in the next few years.
