Rio Ferdinand said on BT Sport 1 (2:23pm, January 2, 2020) that he does not think that Leeds United will get relegated from the Premier League.

The former Leeds defender made the comments following the defeat for Marcelo Bielsa’s side against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

Tottenham got the better of Leeds 3-0 with ease at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League at the weekend.

The result means that the Whites are now 12th in the league table with 23 points from 17 matches, as many as 12 points above the relegation zone.

Ferdinand said on BT Sport 1 (2:23pm, January 2, 2020), as transcribed by Leeds Live: “First season in the Premier League, will they stay up? I believe they will, playing this way. They won’t get the results against some of the bigger teams, but I think they’ll win enough games.

“We need to be a bit realistic about where they are. They’re newly-promoted, they’ve just come up and they’re sitting in 11th.

“Will they stay up? I think they will, the way they’re playing, they’re an insane team to watch. A lot of them are still learning what it’s like to be a Premier League player in a Premier League team. It’s difficult.”

Leeds United will be fine

True, Leeds have conceded as many as 33 goals already in the league this season, but they are still winning matches and picking up points.

The Whites have lost big against the likes of Manchester United and Leicester City, but they have won big against Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion.

Leeds are an entertaining team to watch, and the West Yorkshire outfit are unlikely to go back to the Championship at the end of the season.

One should not be surprised if Bielsa’s side end up in the top 10 this season.
