Kenny Dalglish has backed Rangers to reach the Europa League final and he ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if they are joined by West Ham United, as he told the Sunday Post.

The Celtic legend praised Rangers for ‘producing the goods in Europe’ again when they needed extra-time to see off Braga on Thursday night.

It was an emotional and energy-sapped evening of football at Ibrox for the men in blue, whilst West Ham, led by David Moyes, eased past Lyon.

The English Premier League side thumped the Ligue 1 outfit 3-0 in France, after recording a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Nonetheless, when sharing his thoughts on the Europa League, this is what Dalglish predicted, which Rangers fans will love.

“Rangers, once again, produced the goods in Europe, and their win against Braga was well-deserved,” said Dalglish.

“They now have a mouthwatering semi-final against RB Leipzig, and stand just 180 minutes away from the Europa League Final on May 18.

“I believe they can get there, and be in Seville for the showpiece occasion. And I wouldn’t be surprised if they are up against West Ham.

“Davie Moyes got a brilliant win in Lyon, and they now face Eintracht Frankfurt.”

Before any of Rangers or West Ham can dream about that golden ticket to Seville, they have to get their respective jobs done in the semi-finals.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has to prepare his team to take on the financial-might of RB Leipzig, whilst the Hammers are playing another German team, Eintracht Frankfurt, who knocked out Barcelona.

It would be something if two British sides were to lock horns in a European final and some story for either manager if they were to lift that trophy aloft.

Not forgetting that it also provides the winner with a free passage into the Champions League for next season.
