Former Manchester City attacker Shaun Goater has claimed he will get on the phone with the father of Erling Haaland to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking to the Sun, Goater revealed that he is willing to call up his former teammate, Alf-Inge Haaland, in an attempt to bring his son to the Premier League champions.

Haaland, the 21-year-old Borussia Dortmund star, is one of the most in-demand names currently playing in world football. The youngster has been one of the best strikers in Europe since signing for the Bundesliga side.

This season alone has seen Haaland bag 11 goals in just eight matches in all competitions. And in 2022, a release clause worth £65m as per the Sun becomes active.

As you would expect, this has put every major club in Europe on high alert. Real Madrid are believed to keen on Haaland, as well as the likes of Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

Yet City, and more importantly Haaland’s link to the club, has seemingly made the Manchester giants the favourites to sign the attacker. After all, the striker supported the club when he was younger.
