Some Tottenham Hotspur fans are completely on board with the idea of signing Boubakary Soumare this summer.

ESPN reported on Saturday that Spurs were looking at the Lille winger as a potential alternative if they cannot sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

But with a £50 million price-tag, Tottenham may not be able to afford the French midfielder.

Still, Soumare has emerged as one of Europe’s finest midfielders with Lille, culminating in speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool earlier this year.

And some fans of the North London club definitely want him signed this summer, if they can.

Here’s how they’re reacting to the rumour on Twitter:

If we’re honest, there’s no chance Tottenham are spending £50 million on one player this summer.

Their club-record signing of Tanguy Ndombele, for £63 million last summer, is looking like a pretty poor investment right now on the back of the former Lyon midfielder’s first season with the Lilywhites.

And with Jose Mourinho’s side failing to qualify for the Champions League this season, and with it fail to secure a huge revenue boost, there’s no way Daniel Levy can justify a £50 million sum on player – especially not after taking a £200 million loan last month to protect the club against the financial hit of the global health crisis.
