Speaking on The Overlap, Jamie Carragher has shared his concern about Roberto Firmino, claiming that he’s worried that he’ll never get back to his best form.
The Brazilian was once one of Liverpool’s most important players, and while he’s still a vital cog in Jurgen Klopp’s footballing machine, it’s fair to say he’s regressed a little bit.
Indeed, his goal and assist numbers have dropped off, and Carragher is concerned that he may never be the same again.
What’s been said?
Carragher was speaking about Liverpool ahead of the new Premier League season.
“I think Mane feeds off of the crowd, but I must say I am worried about Firmino getting back to what he was and I still want that striker to come into Liverpool. I know Firmino isn’t a striker and Liverpool don’t play with one,” Carragher said.

Bounce back
Firmino does need to bounce back this season, and while Carragher doesn’t believe he will, that isn’t to say it’s impossible.
The Brazilian is clearly immensely talented, so there’s every chance he will be able to bounce back.
He looked great in pre-season, netting two goals against Osasuna earlier this summer, so perhaps that performance will give him the confidence needed to once again kick on.
The 29-year-old may still get back to his best in a red shirt.
