Dharmesh Sheth has told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (04/08/21 at 5:05 pm) that Norwich City are ‘well aware’ that Aston Villa want to sign Todd Cantwell.

The Sky reporter suggested that Norwich want upwards of £40 and £50 million for their attack-minded midfielder.

Jack Grealish is edging ever closer to leaving his boyhood club and Villa are on the lookout to find replacements.

It has been suggested that Villa will push for Cantwell once Grealish is out of the door, but there is ‘one issue’ between the wanted player and Norwich.

“They are expected to formalise their interest in the Norwich City attacking midfielder, Todd Cantwell, once Grealish’s deal to Manchester City is finalised,” said Sheth.

“As yet we have been told there has been no official contact between the clubs. But Norwich City are well aware of Villa’s interest in Cantwell.

“However, with less than two weeks to go to the start of the new season, and Norwich’s return to the Premier League, I am told it would take a significant offer for Norwich to even consider a sale for Cantwell in this transfer window.

“There is one issue as far as Norwich are concerned and that is Cantwell’s contract situation. He has entered the final year, but Norwich do have an option of a further year.

“I have heard figures upward of £40 and £50 million before Norwich would consider a sale of Cantwell.”

It won’t be a surprise if Villa do land their man because, once again, they have been efficient and ruthless in the transfer market.

They are getting serious dough for Grealish’s talents, they already have the likes of Leon Bailey and Emi Buendia signed up.

And they surprised many people yesterday by confirming the signing of Danny Ings from out of nowhere.

Either way, even though Villa have already been one of the busier teams in the transfer window, it seems as though there is more to come.
