Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has made quite the claim about Antonio Conte and Dele Alli.

The midfielder left Tottenham on transfer deadline day, and it seems as though he left at the perfect time.

Indeed, according to Castles, before Alli was sold Conte made the decision that he would not use Alli again, effectively forcing him out of the club.

What’s been said?

Castles claims that Conte never planned to use Alli again before he was eventually sold.

“They let all of those players go out on loan, and they also let Dele Alli join Everton on an initial free transfer with payments that can be triggered. Getting rid of Alli was a necessary move, I am told that Antonio Conte would not have used him again. He wanted him out as an absolute priority, and when you look at Pochettino, Mourinho, Nuno and Conte having problems with Dele Alli, there’s one common denominator,” Castles said.

Fallen so far

This just goes to show how far Dele Alli has fallen in recent years.

Tottenham aren’t exactly blessed with the most talented squad in the world, but Conte still decided that he had absolutely no use for Alli.

Luckily for the England international, Everton did come in for him at the end of the transfer window, but if they hadn’t he would’ve been facing six months of rotting in the reserves.

We can only hope that Alli can get back playing his best football under Frank Lampard at Everton.
