Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Liverpool’s January transfer plans.
The Reds weren’t very busy in the summer window. They made just one senior addition in the shape of Ibrahima Konate, but they may be active in the winter.
Indeed, Romano says that Liverpool want a new winger in January as Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane head off to the African Cup of Nations.
What’s been said?
Romano spoke about Liverpool’s January plans.
“In January they have a problem, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will go to the African Cup, this is why they are looking for wingers I am told, more the midfielders it’s more wingers, but let’s see if they can find the right player. They always work like this, no panic buys, but if they have a good opportunity, yes,” Romano said.
“Danjuma from Villarreal is doing fantastic, they love this player, they appreciate this player at Liverpool, but Villarreal don’t have any intention to open negotiations for him in January, but that’s just to mention the kind of player they like.”

What they need
Liverpool will certainly need some more firepower in January.
Salah and Mane will be off on international duty, while Roberto Firmino’s injury has left the Reds in a rather precarious situation.
Of course, signing any player is easier said than done, and while the Reds seemingly won’t be signing Aranut Danjuma, there are plenty of quality wingers out there who would probably jump at the chance to head to Anfield.
