Speaking to GiveMeSport, Fabrizio Romano has addressed rumours surrounding Leeds United and Max Allegri.

Reports emerged earlier this month claiming that the Whites were keen to bring the Italian into Elland Road once Marcelo Bielsa’s time at the club comes to an end.

Unfortunately, it seems as though that isn’t a move that’s on the cards, with Allegri reportedly looking to manage an elite club.

“What I am told is that there is nothing with Allegri. Allegri is looking for something different. With all due respect to Leeds, he wants to win titles, he was one of the best managers in Italy in the last 10 seasons. He won everything with Juventus in Serie A and he was a two-time Champions League finalist with Juventus, so he is looking for top, top clubs,” Romano said.

Allegri would have made a fantastic Leeds manager, but this may just be a case of too much too soon for the Elland Road outfit.

Andrea Radrizzani hasn’t been coy about his plan to make Leeds one of the biggest forces in the Premier League one day, but as things stand they’re just a mid-table club, so it makes sense for Allegri to have bigger ambitions right now.

That isn’t to say that Leeds will never be able to attract a manager of this stature, but with Allegri being linked to some of Europe’s biggest clubs, we can understand why the Leeds job doesn’t appeal to him all that much.
