Tim Sherwood has said on Premier League Productions that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp got it wrong over Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Xherdan Shaqiri’s positions against Burnley.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager has said that he was surprised to see midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain play on the right of a front three and winger Shaqiri play in a midfield-three.
Liverpool lost the Premier League game against Burnley 1-0 at Anfield on Thursday evening.
Sherwood said on Premier League Productions: “Oxlade-Chamberlain, he is a good dribbler of the ball. I am surprised where he played. He played high on right.
“I thought he played deeper in midfield. Shaqiri is the one who played deeper. He is so predictable in his play, try and find his left foot, come in off the side again, hit shots through body.”
How did Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Xherdan Shaqiri play?
Shaqiri did play well in midfield against Burnley. The Switzerland International winger worked hard and tried his luck on goal, but he could not really find the finishing touch.
According to WhoScored, the former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan winger took four shots and none was on target, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 89.3%, won one header, took 87 touches, attempted two dribbles, made one tackle, and put in five crosses.
Oxlade-Chamberlain did not have a good time on the right wing, as the former Arsenal star failed to do much of note and could not make an impact on the game.
According to WhoScored, the Englishman took one shot which was on target, had a pass accuracy of 84.6%, took 37 touches, and put in one cross.
