Speaking on the House of Champions Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Newcastle’s transfer plans going into this summer transfer window.
The Magpies are, of course, the richest club in the world, and they can go out and make some big signings this summer should they wish to.
According to Romano, the Tyneside club are really keen to add a creative midfielder to their ranks, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, Romano says that the club will try to sign James Maddison in the coming months.
Newcastle will go for Maddison
The journalist shared what he knows about Maddison and Newcastle.
“Then a creative midfielder. There is a player they really love who is James Maddison who is doing very well with Leicester. He is a player they always had on top of their list and I am sure they will try again before the summer. I don’t know how much competition there will be because this kind of player is always on the list of big clubs, but Newcastle will be there,” Romano said.
Great signing
Newcastle need to make a few marquee signings this summer if they’re going to challenge at the very top of the Premier League, and Maddison could be the type of player who springboards them to that next level.
Make no mistake about it, Maddison is one of the most talented players in England right now, and he could be an absolute gamechanger for the Magpies in their midfield.
Of course, it won’t be easy for Newcastle to sign a player like Maddison. After all, the top clubs in England will be circling this summer, but Newcastle are now in that conversation as one of the best teams in the country.
Don’t be too shocked if Maddison ends up playing in black and white next year.
