Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Mikel Arteta has had his say on the rumours that Harry Kane wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur

Kane’s apparent desire to leave Spurs has been the biggest story in football over the past 48 hours, so inevitably, when it was time for Arteta to sit down for his press conference, the Spurs striker was a topic of conversation.

Arteta was asked to give his thought on Kane leaving Spurs, and as you can imagine, he was rather coy on the subject, but one thing he did say is that if he wants to go he believes that Kane wil make the best decision for himself.

“I don’t know if Harry Kane is leaving Spurs. I think he is still there,” Arteta replied.

“I don’t know, there are too many ifs. If he wants to leave, he will try to make the best decision for himself, I am sure.”

It’s interesting to hear a rival manager speak about this situation.

One would imagine that there is absolutely no chance of Kane coming to Arsenal, given the Gunners’ rivalry with Spurs and the lack of financial power the north London club has at the moment, but Arteta’s comments are still intriguing.

Kane leaving Spurs is as much a mystery to Arteta, as it is to everyone else, he says there are too many ifs, and that is the reality.

What happens with Kane’s future remains to be seen, but as Arteta says, we’re sure that the striker will make the right decision for himself and for his career, whatever that may be.
