Tim Sherwood said on Sky Sports News (2:55pm, March 6, 2021) that reported Tottenham Hotspur target Danny Ings will leave Southampton at the end of the season.

According to Eurosport, Tottenham are interested in signing Ings from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2021.

Former Spurs and Aston Villa manager Sherwood, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that the ex-Liverpool striker will leave the Saints this summer.

Ings has not signed a new contract with Southampton yet, and Sherwood believes that he will leave the Saints for a reduced fee.

Sherwood said about Ings on Sky Sports News (2:55pm, March 6, 2021) “I think it has probably gone beyond it now. I am sorry for Southampton fans, but I think Danny Ings would probably be looking now to move elsewhere. I think there would be a queue for Ings. Reduced fee because he has got only one year left on his contract.”

Leaving Southampton for Tottenham Hotspur?

Ings could not make a massive impact at Liverpool due to injury problems, but the 28-year-old has been superb for Southampton.

According to WhoScored, the 28-year-old scored 22 goals and provided two assists in the Premier League last season, and so far this campaign, he has scored eight goals and has given three assists in the league.

Tottenham do have a good attacking unit, but Carlos Vinicius is only on loan from Benfica.

If Spurs decide not to make Vinicius’s loan deal permanent, then a spot would open in the Tottenham squad for Ings.
