Alan Brazil has said on talkSPORT (8:12am, November 19, 2021) that he is sick of hearing that the Newcastle United players were unfit under Steve Bruce.
What’s the story?
Bruce recently parted company with Newcastle and has been replaced by Eddie Howe at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle striker Callum Wilson has told The Chronicle that the players are now “training with a lot more intensity”.
This has led to suggestions that the players were not at their peak fitness under Bruce.
What Alan Brazil has said
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United forward Brazil does not agree with that notion.
Brazil said on talkSPORT (8:12am, November 19, 2021): “It was one of the players who said it. I am not going to dig him out.
“I am not going to dig him out because he is maybe trying to get the boys going, but when he comes out and says, ‘Already we are sharper, we are fitter’, and Newcastle fans have had a go at me, give us a break. Steve Bruce’s teams are not unfit. I am sick of this.”

Moving on
Bruce was not popular among Newcastle fans.
Howe has been accepted already by the Toon Army.
But, the Englishman will have to hit the ground running.
Newcastle are in danger of getting relegated from the Premier League, and Howe will have to make sure that results improve.
The former Bournemouth manager will bring his own management style and training regime to Newcastle.
It is important that Newcastle players buy into that and start producing results on the pitch.
