Darren Bent says he is ‘shocked’ Jack Harrison is still at Jesse March’s Leeds United after being told that he could now sign a new contract after interest from Leicester City, as he told talkSPORT (02/02/23).
On transfer deadline day, there was talk of Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City bringing Harrison to the Midlands, but for one reason or another, a deal wasn’t pushed through.
Whether those in the Elland Road boardroom simply didn’t want to sell the player, or if there were stumbling blocks in talks, it now seems that talk is going to be squashed with a new deal being put on the table, as reported by Sky Sports.

The former Manchester City man is a regular under Marsch, even though some of the young kids, no more so than Wilfried Gnonto, are ramping up the competiton on that left-hand side.
Nonetheless, when former Premier League striker Darren Bent was told that Harrison could now sign a new deal, he issued the following response.
“He’s a good player,” said Bent. “I am shocked he is still there, you now. A good player him.”

LEEDS MADE THE RIGHT CALL
It has to also be noted that Leicester are a relegation rival of Leeds, so perhaps that also played a part in a move not taking place.
At the end of the day, even if Harrison is out of the door by the summer, one thing is for sure, there isn’t much gain in losing him now.
Marsch is going to need every bit of quality to push the Yorkshire outfit over the line because they are only one point above the drop zone.
And it also needs to be remembered that it was Harrison’s last-minute goal against Brentford last season that played a part in the club surviving relegation.
