Emmanuel Petit has been left unimpressed by Antonio Conte’s Tottenham outburst and how he is looking to be sacked by chairman, Daniel Levy.
The Arsenal legend added that, if he was inside that Spurs dressing room, then he would be ‘really unhappy’ by what his manager had to say after the club’s 3-3 draw at Southampton on Saturday.
Days after Antonio Conte verbally mauled Tottenham, the players, the club’s lack of trophies and how they are run, there are now questions about the his future.

It has been suggested that Conte is expected to head for the exit door during the international break, with Spurs looking to bring in Ryan Mason until the end of the season and presenter Laura Woods added that she is ‘fascinated’ by how bad things have become that the north London club have possibly come to this solution.
Whilst there was an element of truth as to what Conte had to say, the timing of all of this is pretty interesting, with players now on international duty and the club chasing Champions League football.
All in all, Emmanuel Petit thinks the Italian was ‘wrong’ to go down the road he has decided to take, but it’s probably a calculated move from the former Juventus and Inter Milan boss, as he told Premier League Productions (19/03/23 at 1:20 pm).
“I heard what Conte said against his players,” said Petit. “I think saying that publicly was the wrong decision. I think he could have lost the dressing room.
“It’s other people’s fault, it’s never his responsibility. If I am in the Spurs dressing room, then I am really unhappy. I think he needs to talk to his players face-to-face. I am pretty sure they are not happy at all.
“After what he said (a way back for Conte?’) I don’t think so. Maybe he has a plan in his head (on the timing of Conte’s rant), so I am pretty sure he is quite tired of his situation with Spurs. He is probably giving the opportunity to the chairman to sack him.
“I think he is intelligent enough. He knew, before saying that on TV, the reaction and the consequences. Again, I think he has a plan in his head. He probably wants to go somewhere else.”

WHAT NEXT FOR TOTTENHAM?
The question Daniel Levy needs to ask is – Do Tottenham have a better chance of getting fourth spot with or without Antonio Conte?
There is the suggestion that the Spurs board are ‘aware’ of the ‘big problem’ at the club, which is issues with morale, it’s no surprise if that’s the case.
It also needs to be noted that Conte, at first, refused the Spurs job before accepting to replace Nuno Espirito Santo. Another Arsenal legend, this time Ian Wright questioned why the £288k-a-week man took the job in the first place given what has now happened.
