Cedric Soares has revealed that he doesn’t know why Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is only using him sparingly, but stated that he is ready to do a job when called upon.
The former Southampton right-back joined the Gunners on a permanent basis this past summer, after originally signing under Edu and Arteta on loan 11 months ago.
But the Arsenal boss hasn’t given him a single minute of Premier League football as of yet.
So far, Soares has started one League Cup game and two in the Europa League.
He was a pretty prominent fixture in the Premier League during Project Restart after working his way back to full fitness.
And the player himself is adamant that he has no clue as to why Arteta isn’t giving him more chances.
He said via OneFootball: “What has changed [from last season]? I don’t know, but I grew up like this, I have to fight for everything I get, it is normal to do my best in every training session so I am ready for the coach.
“When he wants to use me, I am here, I am ready for the team and to support my team-mates as well. The most important thing is we achieve good things in the season.”
With respect to Soares, he isn’t going to play in the Premier League on a regular basis anytime soon.
That’s because Hector Bellerin has been exceptional under the Arsenal boss so far this season and so long as the Spaniard continues to make that right-back slot his own, the Portugal international will have to continue waiting.
That being said, the North Londoners visit Molde in the Europa League tonight and Soares will probably get the nod then.
