Speaking to A Bola, Diogo Jota has been discussing the positions he’s capable of playing for Liverpool.

The Portuguese forward is one of the most versatile attackers in the Premier League, he’s great with both feet, while his tactical awareness is second-to-none.

Jota is mostly utilised as a number nine, but the former Wolves man states that he’s more than prepared to play in any position Jurgen Klopp wants him to, stating that he can do a job on the wing, up front or as a number 10.

Jota’s versatility

The attacker discussed the different roles he’s capable of playing for the Reds.

“I am prepared to play in any position that the coach thinks I am important. The centre-forward, the winger, the number 10. I’ll give 100% to anyone, that’s who I am. In recent games I have played more behind Darwin, we won one and lost another [Rangers and Arsenal] and we will have another chance,” Jota said.

Why he’s so important

Jota may not be the first name on the teamsheet at Liverpool on a weekly basis, but this is exactly why he’s so important to the Reds.

Jota can play in so many attacking positions, and that means that he provides cover for every single attacker in the lineup.

Luis Diaz is currently out injured, so we’re probably going to see Jota play on the left quite often in the near future, but he’s also covered for Mo Salah on the right, while his best position is in the middle of the park.

The Portuguese star’s versatility makes him a real diamond of a footballer, and Liverpool are lucky to have him.
