Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been speaking about Newcastle United and Steve Bruce’s future at the club.

The Magpies have new owners, and Ferdinand believes that one of the first decisions the Saudi Arabian ownership group will make is to part ways with Bruce.

It has been widely reported this week that Bruce may be sacked, and Ferdinand says he’s incredibly confident that the manager will be let go.

What’s been said?

Ferdinand spoke about Bruce.

“Steve Bruce is no mug, he’ll be there waiting for the phone call, if he’s not already, to say ‘this is it, thank you, but you’re not our guy anymore.’ I am sure, I am positive that will happen. I can’t see him being the short-term or the long-term person that they want to have in place they have plans to do crazy stuff there, and with respect, I don’t think they’ll see Steve Bruce as the guy to do that for them,” Ferdinand said.

Matter of time

Sadly for Bruce, it seems as though it’s just a matter of time before he’s relieved of his duties.

To be honest, any manager with zero wins from their first seven league games of the season would be in trouble, but when you couple that with one of the biggest takeovers in football history, you don’t have much of a chance.

So, what will Bruce’s legacy be? Well, Newcastle fans may not remember him fondly, but the reality is that he did a steady job at a club that could easily have gone off the rails during any point of his tenure.

Bruce is a capable manager, and we’re sure it won’t be long before we see him back in the Premier League.
