Speaking on the Vibe With Five YouTube channel, CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has been discussing Arsenal’s transfer strategy and Mikel Arteta’s role in negotiations this summer.

Arsenal have already signed two senior players this summer, and they’re currently working on getting a third through the door as deals for the likes of Raphinha and Lisandro Martinez continue to be negotiated.

As ever, Edu is in charge of Arsenal’s transfer dealings, but according to Jacobs, Mikel Arteta has taken on a much more hands-on approach this summer when it comes to selling his project at Arsenal to prospective new signings.

What’s been said?

Jacobs spoke about Arteta and his role at Arsenal.

“It is also correct that because Arsenal got a jump on this deal that Martinez was sold by Arteta too. One thing I am noticing in this window, and with Gabriel Jesus too, Arteta is really ramping up his hands-on nature in a pitch for a transfer, he’s having more direct conversations than I remember in previous windows, and he’s selling the club alongside Edu rather than letting Edu take the lead,” Jacobs said.

Cohesive

This is how a football club’s recruitment department should be run.

Edu is there to thrash out the deals and do the negotiations, but when it comes to selling the club’s vision and long-term project, that’s where the manager comes in.

Arteta and Edu are seemingly working well together as a cohesive unit when it comes to recruitment, and hopefully, that can lead to Arsenal landing the rest of their transfer targets this summer.

Arsenal seem to be on the right track at the moment, especially behind the scenes.
