Robbie Savage has stated that he is ‘not sure’ if Liverpool legend, Divock Origi, should get a statue outside of Anfield, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
The Liverpool forward has scored a number of important goals for the club, including against Everton in the Premier League and a few in the Champions League.
From that comeback win against Barcelona to scoring in the Champions League final itself, they are memories that will live with the Anfield faithful forever.
Then it’s the 27-year-old’s record in the Merseyside derby and scoring against Everton for fun, just like he did over the weekend.
Origi may not have the volume of goals that Mo Salah has, but the importance of his goals can’t be questioned, as a result, some have called for him to have a statue outside of the stadium.
But former Premier League midfielder Savage is unsure that should happen.
“I am not sure Divock Origi should have a statue outside of Anfield,” said Savage. “He has scored some important goals
“In the commentary that’s what was said. He has done great. He has scored so many important goals for Liverpool. But a statue?”
The powers that be at Liverpool should be carving up a statue of Origi as we speak because, as Jurgen Klopp has said, he is a club legend.
With the Reds still chasing the Premier League title, FA Cup and Champions League before the season is out, someone like Origi might elevate his status even further.
There’s no doubt that Klopp is going to use him when the pressure really hits the fans and they need that all-important goal.
If the Belgian can do it again, then it will truly end a remarkable career for the player on Merseyside.
