Jermain Defoe has been gushing over the skill of Rangers team-mate Ryan Kent, admitting that he is regularly stunned by the winger in Steven Gerrad’s training sessions.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed another brilliant season under Gerrard in Glasgow.
Rangers won the Premiership title and Kent managed eight goals and nine assists in helping the light Blues end their 10-year wait to reign supreme over Celtic again.
The Gers spent close to £8 million on bringing Kent in from Liverpool 18 months ago, having caught the eye during a season-long loan at Ibrox the earlier campaign.
Kent has a keen eye for goal and has the capacity to make something out of nothing, but he also has tekkers in his locker and Defoe admitted that he’s probably the most skillful player at the club.
He told Rangers TV: “Kenty, again, his feet are unbelievable. Quick feet, even in training sometimes he does things I am like wow; I would definitely take Kenty there.”
Some fans of the Premiership champions may not want to admit it, but the best players north of the border are always going to be looked at by richer clubs down south.
And although Rangers supporters would hate to lose Kent, it’s a possibility this summer and Gerrard must ensure he does everything he can to keep him.
