Manchester City fell 2-0 to PSG in the UEFA Champions League, yet it will be remembered as the night Lionel Messi scored his first goal for the French giants.

The Argentine attacker doubled the hosts lead 74 minutes in with a trademark Messi goal, with the PSG star gliding through the City defence before executing a one-two with Kylian Mbappe to rifle the ball past the reach of Ederson Moraes.

Indeed, it was a night that belonged to Paris and the Messi. The football legend joined the Ligue 1 side in the summer after dramatically leaving FC Barcelona due to a dispute with La Liga.

With Messi joining up with the likes of Neymar, Sergio Ramos and Mbappe at PSG, not many would have expected the South American to have taken this long to score his first goal.

But the 34-year-old is finally on the board. And Messi arguably did it in PSG’s biggest game so far this season. The French giants and City are two of the favourites for the Champions League trophy.

It was a memorable night for Messi, and on social media, City fans could only sit there and fume as the attacker bagged his first goal for PSG.

Messi was linked with City in 2020 after the attacker handed in a request to leave Barcelona. However, as we know, the Argentine attacker remained an extra year.

Here’s what some City fans had to say about Messi bagging his first goal for PSG on Twitter…
