Ian Wright has stated that it is ‘confusing’ the noise coming from Antonio Conte at Tottenham, as he told PL Productions (17/02/22 at 12:10 pm).

The former striker claimed that he is ‘hearing from the inside’ that Conte is not getting what he wanted at Spurs.

At first, everything was rosy in the Tottenham garden, with Conte unbeaten in the Premier League for nine matches.

But three Premier League defeats on the bounce has brought everything down and worried fans are starting to question what will be the end result.

Wright shared his thoughts on the goings-on in north London and how things haven’t changed from when Spurs first went in for Conte in the summer.

“It’s very confusing where Spurs are at the moment,” said Wright. “And him (Conte), it’s like he’s almost realising, especially when he turned them down in the summer.

“It’s really strange that they got Nuno, then obviously he’s come back (for Conte) and he’s still taking the job, where I was thinking, that he was going to get exactly what he wants.

“What I am hearing from the inside and everything I am reading from Conte at the moment is that it’s not what he wanted. If you are coming to Spurs, your first mission should be to get them in the top four.

“For him to realise that’s what he was going for and he wanted more, then it’s quite confusing and the whole thing is confusing – I look at his demeanour in the interview and I get a sense of ‘I made a mistake here’.”

Just like Jose Mourinho, Conte is an out-spoken coach and he will make his feelings clear.

Given that the Italian has walked out of jobs before when he wasn’t happy – After winning the Serie A title with Inter – then it is worrying some that the same is going to happen at Spurs.

But perhaps Conte is just showcasing the cracks at the club, so they can move forward and build for the long term.

Either way, however it is perceived, he is still the Tottenham boss and the summer ahead is going to be huge for all involved.

Out of all the summer transfer windows, this is the time for Daniel Levy to ask owner Joe Lewis to put his hands deep in his pockets.
