Gary Lineker has stated that he is backing Tottenham to beat their north London rivals Arsenal in their Champions League showdown, as he told Match of the Day.
The biggest north London derby in Living memory?
Lineker was left baffled when he was told that this is the ‘biggest (north London derby) game in living memory’… and all of that for fourth place.
But that is what is at stake tonight and a win for Arsenal would see them secure Champions League football.
When Mikel Arteta helped Arsenal win the reverse fixture, Nuno Espirito Santo was in the Spurs dugout.
But now Arteta will have to pit his tactical might against the trophy-laden coach, Antonio Conte, who has made quite the difference at Spurs.
Nonetheless, this is what Match of the Day host, Lineker, had to say about the north London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal.
“I am going with Tottenham, just to equal things up,” Lineker told Martin Keown whilst in conversation about the north London derby.
“The biggest game in living memory as they are playing for fourth place?” the MOTD host then questioned in a baffling manner.

Previous battles between Tottenham and Arsenal always produce entertaining encounters.
Given what is on the line in a few hours time, it might result in the game perhaps becoming a bit cagey and more of a tactical affair.
But not in the north London derby because these two will trade blows like two heavyweight boxers with a massive feud to settle.
From Arsenal’s perspective, whilst a win will secure fourth spot, at the end of the day, a point will also be pretty helpful.
So, if the two are level going into the final 20 odd minutes, then it will be interesting to see how much of a risk Arteta takes in trying to win the game.
