Some Aston Villa fans on social media are getting very excited after Dean Smith’s comments on the club’s summer transfer plans.
Villa have been big spenders the last two seasons signing some top-class players during that time, and Smith’s comments in his press conference seem to indicate that the Midlands club will once again be bringing in some quality talent.
“We’ve been planning for a long time. The people in the recruitment department & the sporting director have certainly had their finger on the pulse. The targets will make me excited, so it should make the supporters excited as well,” Smith said.
As you can imagine, these comments sent the fanbase into a bit of a frenzy, and we can understand why.
Villa look to be a few players away from making a real splash in the Premier League and if they get their recruitment right this summer, there’s no reason why they can’t challenge for a European spot next term.
It remains to be seen who Villa sign, but it sounds as though they have big plans.
