Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Tottenham’s search for a new manager.

Spurs have been linked with a plethora of gaffers from across Europe, but two bosses Romano claims the London club aren’t overly keen on are Maurizio Sarri and Gian Piero Gasperini.

It was claimed earlier this week that Spurs were in contact with Gasperini, but Romano says that there’ve been no serious discussions with the Italian at this point.

“It is interesting for Tottenham because they are saving a lot of money from Roma appointing Mourinho, but let’s see what happens now with The Tottenham job as there will be something really, really interesting,” Romano said.

“As of today, there is no contact between Maurizio Sarri and Tottenham, he is not the first on their list and I’m told the same at the moment for Gian Piero Gasperini I am being told that there is nothing advanced or serious. So they have other candidates, but Italians like Sarri and Gasperini have had no serious or advanced contact with Tottenham.”

This is certainly interesting to hear.

Romano, as an Italian journalist, is likely to have great contacts around both Sarri and Gasperini, so you have to take his word as gospel here.

Tottenham’s managerial hunt has seen them linked to all sorts of managers, but almost three weeks after Mourinho’s departure, we’re still none-the-wiser as to who will be replacing him.

This is certainly a situation to keep a keen eye on in the coming weeks.
