Tottenham ace shoots down exit claims.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela has hit out at recent press reports over his future, commenting on Twitter.

Telegraph this week claimed his absence was in part due to the death of his dog, while Squawka reported that he is eyeing a return to former club Roma.

Now the star has responded, commenting that he is ‘annoyed’ at the recent reports.

He said: “Clarified for people who care about me that I am in Rome healing myself for an injury and not for non soccer problems like the death of my dog that was months ago or the accident of my brother.

“I am never answering anything, but I am annoyed that they invent this kind of thing, thanks to all those who encourage me day by day! I hope to return soon to the pitch.”

He went on to add that he is ‘missing White Hart Lane every minute’.

Lamela has been out of action with a hip injury since October, and his return will be a big boost for the title chasing side.

Spurs are in third place in the league and still have the Europa League to contest as well as the FA Cup.

Lamela’s comments show that he cares not only about how he is perceived, but about Tottenham, with a desire to nip the rumours in the bud and show them up for the non-stories they are.
