Dharmesh Sheth has told Sky Sports that ‘talks will continue’ between Arsenal and Brighton for Ben White.

On Wednesday, Arsenal had a bid of £40 million rejected for the England international, according to the Sky journalist.

White is currently on Euro 2020 duty with England, and if any deal were to happen, then it would surely ramp up after the tournament is over.

And whilst Brighton have seemingly rejected Arsenal’s advances for their ball-playing defender, this potential transfer story doesn’t seem over yet.

Sheth has claimed that Arsenal will be expected to go back in for White with an ‘improved offer’ as they try to re-build the club after finishing the recently concluded campaign without any European football.

“It’s my understanding that Arsenal have had a £40 million bid rejected by Brighton for their England defender, Ben White,” said Sheth.

“I am also told that talks will continue between both clubs and Arsenal are expected to go back in for an improved offer.

“He’s not a player that Brighton wants to lose. They showed how keen they wanted to keep him last summer. He was the subject of three rejected bids from Leeds United – eventually, he ended up signing a new contract up until 2024.

“£40 million bid has been made. It has been rejected, but don’t expect that to be the end of it.”

Potentially signing White would be some coup for those in the Arsenal boardroom because he is a rising star and a regular England international in the making.

Arsenal fans have seen a countless number of centre-backs come and go at their club, but they may now finally start to fine-tune a defence that has taken too many hits in recent years.

It could be argued that if White does indeed sign for the Gunners then he would become their best centre-back because he outperformed every single one of those in Arsenal colours last season.
