Manchester City attacking midfielder Raheem Sterling has told Sky Sports that he still loves Liverpool and has spoken highly of Anfield.
Sterling was on the books of Liverpool from 2010 until 2015 when he moved to Manchester City.
City paid Liverpool an initial £44 million for the attacking midfielder (BBC Sport).
Sterling has admitted that the way he left the Reds was disappointing.
The 27-year-old, who can also play as a winger, has said that he still speaks highly of Anfield to those who ask him.
Raheem Sterling on Liverpool
Sterling said: “I said at the time, I felt like my ambitions and Liverpool’s ambitions at the time weren’t really aligned. The way it went about is the only disappointment I have from it.
“I did [have good times at Liverpool], at such a young age with a club that invested a lot in me. It had a big part in my teenage years so they’ve had a massive role in my life. It’s a club I hold really closely, my daughter still lives in Liverpool and I’ve got a lot of time for the people there.
“When friends or something ask what it’s like at Anfield, I always say if you have a game coming up against Manchester United or Man City, it almost felt like the fans and the city gave you an extra superpower, making you feel like you could do things you didn’t think you could do, that’s how it felt. It’s a really special stadium.”

Succeeding after Liverpool exit
Sterling still seems to love Liverpool, and it is really very encouraging to hear.
The attacker grew as a player at Anfield, and it is good to hear him speak so highly of his former club.
As we all know, Sterling has done very well since he left Liverpool.
Not many players leave a club like Liverpool and become successful.
Sterling has been hugely successful at City and is now one of the best players in the world.
The 27-year-old has won the Premier League title thrice, the FA Cup once, and the EFL Cup on four occasions with City.
